"No jump on da bed!"

Last Sunday night Gunner managed to break his leg. He somehow jumped from his bed or off his dresser onto the floor...we think. We weren't in his room when it happened. He has a spiral fracture on his tibia bone (shin bone). All the doctors and nurses kept saying it was a bad break.
Just what parents love to hear!

He's been incredibly brave and so strong. We are so proud of him & how he's handled all of this. He's been in so much pain and has been so good about everything he's been through. He never complains unless he's hurting. He still has his happy attitude and is cheerful through it all! Here's a recap:

Day 1 (Sunday): After going to Urgent care, they put his leg in a splint. Not fun at all, but Gunner was such a trooper. He kept saying "Thank you" to all the doctors and nurses helping him. What a polite little guy!

Day 2 (Monday): No documented pictures. This was a rough day for our little guy! His signature phrase for the day was "I stuck in there!"

Day 3: (Tuesday): He finally got a new cast! We were glad it now sits below his knee so he's more comfortable. He still wants to get in greatly needed play time.

Day 4 (Wednesday): I somehow managed to get him in the shower and cleaned off! This kid can sweat and actually started to stink a little. :-) He had a good time in the shower and we ended up getting normal clothes on...no more pajamas! This is how we get around in the house (at least downstairs). He loves his new wheels.

This is how we pass the time. Reading books, doing puzzles and meals all takes place in the wagon.

Overall, with each day that passes he's doing better. I'm just so thankful that he's okay. Gunner received many blessings and I know his Heavenly Father helped him feel better. We love you Gunner boy. Get better fast so you can run and jump again soon (except no beds!).

This is Gunner's rendition of the moral of the story:

Gunner, we're so sorry your leg got hurt. You are such a brave boy. We've been watching your mom's blog everyday to see pictures of your broken leg and how tough you are. No jump on da bed! At least not right now. You look so cute with your cast on your leg. We love you.

it must be in the water. I've had a couple friends have their kids break their legs lately. I'm in town by the way, maybe I could come see you guys?

Sorry to hear about the leg! Get well soon. I couldn't hear his rendition due to the music. I would love to hear his version.

Gunner--I'm so sad you got a broken leg, uh oh. We miss you at school and hope you get feeling better so you can come back and play with us :) Come back soon, okay? You can show your cast for show-n-tell.

I think you can push "pause" on the music section in order to hear Gunner's story without the musi in the background. :-)

What a hard thing. Brody got stiches last month and I thought that was bad, but he could still run around and play. Poor Buddy! I hope you are back to a normal running and playing schedule soon little Gunner.

I was so sad to hear about Gunner's leg! Sorry I couldn't help you find a doctor...we've had lots of head injuries, but no breaks! (I'm knocking on wood right now!) My friend Cassi's little girl broke her arm on the same day! We have lots of cookies to bake! :) We'll bring them to him soon!

Kari I'm SO behind!! I just got caught up and you've had some exciting stuff going on. I'm so sorry for Gunner's break, so delighted over Caleb's birthday and absolutely tickled pink for you on #3. :) You've been one busy mommy and it looks like things are only going to get busiers! Give those adorable boys a hug for me and take in as many bubble baths as possible. LOL

Hugs,
Holly

Oh my goodness Kari! That is such a sad little story, yet cute all at the same time! He looks so cute camping out in his wagon and keeping busy with the books and puzzles. I just can't believe how much he talks. Hopefully he starts feeling better soon!
