(this post = picture overload!)
And we're off! To American Fork, Utah!
My sister and I drove with the girls and Bode while my Mom took the older boys in her car.
Kris and I were way excited for a road trip! (I like to drive with my eyes closed)
The girls were not so excited.
We had lots of fun on our pit stops. Bode was such a good sport. He was a great traveler! :)
We drove to Utah to spend a week to celebrate my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary.
Here they are on their wedding day. Aren't they so cute!?
My Grandma was a beauty queen and did lots of pageants in American Fork. She's the one standing up in the back. WhooWhoo!
Wasn't my Grandpa handsome? :) He still is!
Finally, after a 12 hour day in the car, we made it! The kids always gravitate to the marble game the second they walk in the door. It's their favorite thing about my grandparents house.
After we said hi, we checked into our hotel. We stayed at a hotel since there were so many people in town for my Grandparents anniversary and there wasn't enough room at their house. Caleb's favorite thing to do in the hotel was decorate the mirrors with bananas...hey, we work with what was on hand to keep them entertained. (My apologies to the cleaning staff that day).
We did lots of fun things to keep the kids entertained. We took them to the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. We stayed for hours. My kids loved every minute of it.
They had a discovery room where you could do lots of experiments with gravity, etc. Caleb loved this room.
There's also an area where you can dig for dinosaur bones. Another big hit.
I love how the smock is 2 sizes too big for her.
The next day, a huge snow storm rolled in. And everything looked like this.
Mesmorizing isn't it? We took a drive up the canyon and it was so peaceful and quiet. Surreal, really.
This pic is my screen saver in the summertime. :)
We got the kids out for a quick pic. They were freezing. We are SO desert rats!
One last nature shot.
After our nature drive, we came back to the house to warm up a bit. We found things around the house to keep the kids entertained. I played with pics on Instagram a bit. :)
Love these girls!
Okay, so I guess technology entertained us quite a bit. :) (My Dad, my sis Kelli and boyfriend James.)
I went to take some pics outside. This is my grandparents house. So quaint. Such great memories here! Love the blue sky in this one.
This is the view from my grandparents house. They live at the top of the hill in Am Fork. So pretty!
These were Kristin's make-shift snow boots. She's rockin' this look!
The next day, the snow had melted a ton so we did more outdoor activities. (We AZ people aren't used to this cold weather!) My Dad played football with Gunner.
Love me some gangsta baby!
We walked down to the park. Bode loved it.
Kenna, my artistic sister, made a mini-snowman. She's so proud.
One great perk about this trip was I got to see my aunt Jill and uncle Glen. They live in North Carolina and we don't get to see them much. It was great to catch up with them, hear about their family and reminisce.
That night we had a fun party for my grandparents. They showed a movie of lots of pictures of them together over 60 years, and each child and grand child was able to stand and tell them a memory they had. It was a great tribute to them. I'm so thankful I was able to attend and be there to celebrate with them. They are such a wonderful example to me. Love you G&G Taylor!
Just had to throw this one in. We have a tradition in my family that we all have IBC root beer at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Grandpa always packs the outdoors fridge with it. My kids are carrying on the tradition. :)
We had a great trip! Can't wait to go back again!
