a GREAT man!

Meet my sweet father in law, Harvey Cook. He is the sweetest man that needs some extra prayers. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and will undergo some painful treatments to fight the cancer. If you know Justin’s Dad, you know what a great man he is. He’s a devoted father to all his kids and loves his beautiful wife Anne. He’s funny, was an amazing business man and his credo is all about hard work. No other person had, and continues to have, more of an impact on Justin’s life than his Dad. So you can imagine how concerned we are and what a shock this was to our whole family. Justin has said more than once that in his eyes his dad is “indestructible” and it still hasn’t really set in the reality of the situation. Dad Cook is quite the jokester and always trys to put a positive spin on things. Even when they told us the results of the tests he said, “ I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is I’m not pregnant, the bad news is I have cancer.” Dad Cook has had a great attitude about this and is a man of much faith. He strongly believes in doing everything in our power and leaving the rest up to the Lord. He is someone I’ve come to love and admire as if he were my own Dad. So on Septemeber 8th he will have a surgery to begin his treatment. Justin’s dad taught them as small children to never give up and that when times got tough to draw from that God given strength from within. He called it “Cook Power.” Dad we love you so much, we are confident that you will win this battle. Cook Power!!!
My sisters in law Krista and Alisa also wrote a blog post about their Dad. You can view each of their blogs by clicking on their names. Thanks again for your extra prayers!

I'm so sorry to hear this, Kari! I couldn't help but smile and laugh at the stories you just shared with us though. I'm glad he's not pregnant, too!

You can rest assured that I WILL be praying for this man, and your entire family. We do often feel like our dads our indestructible, and in some way or another, most are. You're right. He will pull through this! You gotta believe!

Hey guys - sorry our family has to face this yet again. I guess it's the Cook's turn for cancer - but I think 3 people is a bit much! Anyway, we'll all continue the fight and keep the faith - it all is in the Lord's hands anyway.
We have added Uncle Harvey to our prayers!

Hi Kari, I think it's about time we make those, "I HATE cancer" shirts. I'm so sorry. I can sit here and ask Why...but I already know the answer. Please let me watch you kids whenever you'd like to be with your father-in-law or family. I loved having Bree over with Gunner the other day. In fact I have some fun pictures that I took of her to give you. Just playful ones. Let me know what you need. I'm %100 here for you.

hi, I am a follower to your blog and my family and I have kept little Bree in our prayers and are happy to see she is doing great! Your father in law with be in our family prayers as well. My mom just finished her last round of chemo. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in december and then had a double mastectomy followed by chemo. Its so hard to watch someone you look up to and love so dearly go through this, but continue to be strong!

Tears came to my eyes as I'm reading this. The hard times you guys have had this past year....
I know there are so many other hardships that you don't even put on your blog. Know that I am praying for your family--all of you.

Harvey Cook in large part has inspired and taught many of his children's friends as well...if there ever where a fighter (in addition to little Bree), it would be Harvey. We are mindful of you all, and Ann during this time.
